Sermorelin corresponds to residues 1 to 29 of human growth hormone-releasing factor, the fragment commonly written GRF(1-29). Both CJC-1295 and tesamorelin, also in this library, are modified derivatives of this same fragment: CJC-1295 through a C-terminal maleimidopropionamide lysine substitution enabling albumin conjugation, and tesamorelin through a separate structural modification.

Structural characteristics
Sermorelin is the unmodified GRF(1-29) fragment. The derivative work documented elsewhere in this library describes maleimido derivatives of hGRF(1-29) and their bioconjugation to human serum albumin, all three of which showed enhanced in vitro stability against dipeptidyl peptidase IV relative to the unmodified fragment. Sermorelin is therefore useful as the structural reference point against which those modifications are described.

Analytical considerations
The single sulfur atom corresponds to one sulfur-containing residue within the 29-residue fragment. Because sermorelin, CJC-1295 and tesamorelin share the same parent sequence and differ by defined modifications, mass-based identity methods distinguish them directly, but a sequence-only assay of the common region will not.
